Hello! My name is Kate Widdowson. You may know me from Great Hearts Northern Oaks, where I have been the music teacher for K, 1st, 2nd, and 6th grade students for the past three years. I am thrilled to be opening my private piano studio to past and present students of mine, and now to other groups! My music education is rooted in the Kodaly Philosophy whose main principle is that a child's music education begins in the womb. High-quality music education is for everyone! I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX, and will complete my Level III Kodaly course this summer leading me to certification through OAKE.
Thank you for your interest in my piano studio! I teach using the Piano Adventure curriculum with supplemental materials from Faber Series books, Bastien collections, Dozen a Day, and Hanon. I am dedicated to adjusting and augmenting these materials to create the experience and education my students need. My home instrument is a Yamaha baby grand and is a wonderful addition to this timeless childhood experience. I hope you will make yourself a part of the Widdowson Piano Studio whenever possible.
